Wait, what?
This morning, on my way into work, I was flipping through the channels, as I find myself doing more and more these days, feeling completely underwhelmed by the music playing, and I stumbled upon something that I had somehow forgotten about: my insane love for Death Cab For Cutie. Seriously, I have blathered on about them in the past, but for whatever reason, I tend to forget about them from time to time, and it was nice to be reminded of the greatness this morning, as one of their beautiful songs came pouring from my car’s speakers. Cut to me at my desk, listening to the amazing album Plans, where I thought to myself, self, I wonder if they are coming out with a new album any time soon… it’s been a while, you know? Well kiss my ass and call me Sherwood, low and behold, I just checked their website, and it seems they have a new record due in May 2008. SQEEEEEL! I can’t wait for that. This is very unexpected and fantastic news for a Wednesday. In the meantime, I will be binging on Death Cab for Cutie today.
In other music here and now, (and a necessary explanation for the mash up that spawned this post’s name) I heard a little bit ago that one of my favorite bands of all time, the Cardigans, were releasing a double “best of” CD, with one disc of their hits, and an additional CD of B-sides and rarities, sometime early this year. It is no wonder that I am eagerly anticipating this masterpiece as well, because there aren’t many bands out there that tickle me the way that the Cardigans do, and a whole new disc of rarities is just like candy to a baby. In honor of the excitement about the forthcoming Cardigans compilation, and the great news about a new Death Cab record, I thought I would post some music from these two great bands:
Death Cab For Cutie – I Will Follow You Into The Dark
The Cardigans – You’re The Storm (from one of my favorite albums EVER, Long Gone Before Daylight)
I am serious when I say, that it may be more exciting to “rediscover” music that you love, but haven’t listened to in a while, than it is to discover new stuff. Yes, it MAY be. Either way, what a great pick me up for an otherwise dull Wednesday, right?
In other dull-Wednesday-pick-me-up news, I am having lunch with a great friend of mine that I haven’t seen in ages, who lives in London, and who is breezing through town. I am very excited to see her, and I just realized, that this is a day of reconnection, and re-discovery! Hot. Gotta love that, don’t you?
