damn you to hell, mosquitoes!!!

I HATE mosquitoes. I hate them. I am from NC, where, in some parts of the state, you can actually ride them they are so big. And yet, I think that they are worse here in Atlanta. I went to school at ECU, which is right on the Tar River, and again mosquitoes are a big problem. But still, worse in Atlanta.

I normally wouldn’t mention such silliness, but this morning, when I got in my car to come to work, I looked in my rear view mirror to back out of my driveway, and I saw a mosquito sitting on my forehead!!! I swatted it, and then, when I looked again, he was sitting on my cheek!!!

another year older, and a new job to boot!

As of Monday, August 29, I will be taking a “new” job, back with my old branch. I haven?t said anything, because I am one of those, “wait till the chickens are hatched” types of people, so I wanted to be sure before I broadcast the message.

I am very excited to be going back to work with my old team, and I am sure that there will be less of what I experienced in my current branch (no need to get into that here? I always said I would never blog about work, and I mean it!). Needless to say, a new job is on the way, and that should prove an exciting move. Only thing is, right now I am in transition, which can be, well, kind of awkward. Regardless? the move is official Monday, so not much longer on that.

why couldn’t it be shane???

I just read that Mark Feehily of Westlife (don’t act like you don’t know that they are the pop Irish sensation they are) is gay!!! Hooray! Good for you Mark. Finally letting the world know what we knew already. But seriously, I do have to say a big THANK YOU for being man enough to come out, and telling the world who you are. If there were more celebrities all over the world that took this route, things might be able to get even better.

Kathy Griffin is awesome; Categories, Schmategories?

I don’t have a lot going on today, other than the fact that I cannot seem to concentrate or focus my eyes on my computer screen. It is kind of freaking me out, so hopefully it will pass. I need to find something to do that doesn’t require a monitor!

Have you been watching Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List? Now, I normally hate reality TV, because most of it sucks, but this one show, I love. It is like watching Kathy do stand up, just for you. It also shows you that she really is just a funny person. She doesn’t really try too hard, she is just funny. That is something that is very difficult for some people to get out there.

he’s not gay, he’s in a fraternity.

Often times I am in conversation with someone, and inevitably, the subject of whether or not so-in-so is gay, comes up. (Seriously, it happens a lot) While the person and I talk it over, and “check for the signs”, something else inevitable happens: the person, 9 times out of 10, says something like, “but he’s married” or “but he is engaged”, and then writes it off as a done decision. The conclusion is then: he must not be gay because of X. Well, I guess I want to know why that is always the first response of most people? He can’t be gay, at least not because of X. It is like X is a qualifier for non-gayness. It is almost like the person is looking for something to ?prevent? that other person from being gay. But why? I honestly want to know why this is so.

Tell us the truth Cathy Cox: for us, or against us?

Today I happened to stumble onto some information about one Ms Cathy Cox, and thought, as a concerned Atlantian, I should share it. Before I get into that, I guess I should point out that Cathy is running for governor of Georgia, and this is merely one way of asking Cathy what she means by this, and if there will be a change in the near future. Sorry to keep you in the dark, children, so here comes the light. Apparently, Cathy Cox is a member of the Druid Hills Country Club. Her and her husband, Mark Dehler, are both members. They are members, as a family, and are recognized as such by the country club. But that is not what disturbs me. It disturbs me that Cathy Cox portrays herself as a Democrat that is “for the people of Georgia” and attends events advocating gay rights (HRC dinner in Atlanta), but gives thousands of dollars a year to an organization that does not believe gay and lesbian couples deserve the same rights as straight couples do.

it’s about time!!!

Finally! I read yesterday (but was in a meeting all day, so I couldn’t post about it), about how Sony has finally decided to release Fiona Apple’s record, Extraordinary Machine! AND, two songs, O’ Sailor and Parting Gift will be available for download from iTunes as of today (August 16th). Hallelujah!

Now, this doesn’t mean that I am not mad at Sony anymore, in fact, if they mess with her CD like they did Natasha Bedingfield’s, I will be just as pissed as I was here. So don’t do that Sony; you have been warned!

Also, I read this press release from Sony, which makes it seem like there was no gap in time, and that all has gone according to plan:

ready for the weekend…

I am leaving work early today, because I have visitors this weekend! Peggy and Wendy are on the way, and a good time should be had by all (at least I hope). We are going to see the Braves tonight, and I am not so gay that I don’t know how baseball is played, but I really didn’t know that they played each team so many times. Who knew? Well, we are going to one of those games. Hey, as long as they have beer and we get to stare at hot asses and thick arms, I will be in heaven. We will be looking for hotties like these:
Jeff Francoeur Dan Kolb

Not to mention hugs, butt slaps, etc. Can’t wait! So I guess baseball CAN be fun!!!

Update: How interesting that we were on the lookout for Mr. Francoeur (and oh yes, we saw him)… and here he is… on the cover and inside of The Sunday Paper!!! How cute is he???

you are not my father! he is!

I read these articles today, about a study that was done to determine something called “paternal discrepancy”; which is where the father is not the biological father for whatever reason. While, it is not that interesting to me that they did this study, it is interesting to me that they determined that about 4% of people out there (that is an average) are living with fathers that are not their biological father.
