I was toiling over whether to actually say anything about this or not, because sometimes I abhor political debates, but honestly, I am quite pissed, and I feel the need to clear some air. Which totally makes me think of another, unrelated headline that I read this morning about how high fiber diets don’t prevent colon cancer; and being that I sometimes think that way, I thought that the headline should’ve read, “All that extra fiber in your diet is just a load of crap when it comes to preventing colon cancer; so you don’t have to shit yourself trying to get more of itâ€. Anyway… I digress…
A couple of days ago, Bush came out and admitted that we did in fact go to war under false intelligence (“there are definitely weapons of mass destruction over there… I can smell ‘em!â€â€¦ obviously not the only thing, but, what’s a girl gonna do?), and then, in the same sentence, defended the war, and advocated a continuation of the war that was built on these false pretenses. He then stated that he was glad that we went, because after we got there, we realized that Saddam was bad (didn’t we know that?) and he needed to be taken care of. Now, wait a second; I may be crazy, but didn’t he just tell us that we went for the wrong reasons, admitted that it was fucked up that we went into this war; and then in the same sentence, defended the stupid mistake, and scrambled to find other reasons to validate the current situation? How is that right? How, I ask?!? If you didn’t this in almost any other circumstance, shit would hit the fan! You would get fired, if you did this at your job! So I ask, shouldn’t someone be held accountable for all of the lost lives in this situation? I, for one, definitely think so.
I think that it is pretty fair to say that *gulp* I am fairly upset. I found out yesterday… wait, I need to sit down for this… that Alias has been cancelled. I literally have a lump in my throat as I am writing this. And oh, let’s not even mention the twisted, sick irony that I happened to write about this very same thing not even 2 days ago happening to other shows that I like. NOT EVEN 2 DAYS! AND I used Alias as an example of a show that had a following that the networks actually gave a chance!! WTF!? Come on ABC! What is going on!? I really hope that it doesn’t get to the point where I don’t even watch TV anymore, because that is seriously the direction that you crazy network execs are pushing me in. I have an idea, ABC, why not cancel all of your good shows; like Desperate Housewives, Invasion, Lost (which really isn’t all that great in my opinion), etc. (wait, are their any other good shows?!?! I know, I know, Grey’s Anatomy, right… but I don’t watch it. I am not going to, if I get into it, they’ll cancel it). Then, you can just force-feed us horrible shit like WifeSwap, Dancing with the Stars, and reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond and Friends 24/7. Then, it wouldn’t be hard for me to completely stop watching your network. In fact, with this move, it is actually getting easier each day. Now, I can just limit my exposure to ABC to 2 times a week. You completely suck. In fact, I am giving you the middle finger right now; and a “Å“neyeh”Â-style grunt (in the key of Avril Lavigne).
…that I am not an American woman. They are just taking your health, rights, issues, and concerns and burning them right in front of your face. And not only is it disgraceful and dangerous, it is for all the wrong reasons. Sorry ladies… read the article about the FDA’s new stance on women’s health.
One more strike: FDA rejects Plan B emergency contraceptive.
Now, I know that music piracy and “Å“illegal” downloading is a sensitive subject for some, but not for me. Not anymore anyway; I want it known that I think that whole thing is a load of horse shit. I have commented on it before, in the form of a rant to Sony about their new uber-evil tactics to prevent you from copying a damn CD that you just freshly purchased (which you can read here); and then today, I read this. Seems that Sony is not only preventing you from copying the CD that you RIGHTFULLY PAID FOR, but they are putting malicious software on your PC, just because you were unlucky enough to buy one of those CDs in the first place.
Halloween, at least in our neighborhood is now officially renamed, “You Owe Me Something” day. Because, if you aren’t home, your car gets egged (thank GOD it was James’, not mine); and the kids don’t bother to dress up, and still expect the candy. I am still waiting for our drunk neighbor to stumble over. Can’t wait until You Owe Me Something day is over…
Tonight while I was the gym, I saw that there was a protest going on in Downtown Atlanta against the Iraq war. According to CNN.com, there have been 2,001 Americans and NUMEROUS other people, that have died so far in this war. Enough is enough. And if that weren’t enough motivation to stop this madness, the Iraq war, as of 12:22 am, has cost $203,678,120,890. I think it is time to stop this madness, before these numbers are allowed to go up, and more people lose their lives.
For more statistics regarding soldier’s deaths, please check out this link. There is a complete list of names. Enough is definitely enough.
Today was especially “Monday” for some reason, but regardless, I made it through. Click read more to read my poem I wrote “about” today, called ‘the day that won’t go away’. Finally, I really one have one thing to “sound off” about today; if you are trying to pass a parked car on your side of the street, STAY ON YOUR GODDAMN SIDE OF THE ROAD, ASSHOLE!!!! IT DOESN’T STICK OUT THAT FAR!!! That is all.

I watched Hotel Rwanda last night, and whoa, I had no idea. I remember when all of that crap was going on over there, but I really didn’t understand what was happening. There is one point in the movie where Paul, the manager of the hotel that acts as a refuge for over a thousand people, is talking with a reporter, and tells him that if people can just see what is happening, then they will do something. Then, the reporter responds with the chilling fact, that people will simply watch the horror, and then go back to their dinners. This really describes not only what actually happened, but the understanding even I had about what happened in Rwanda.
– We are celebrating a man who “discovered” a continent, that not only was “discovered” thousands of years prior by other peoples, but was inhabited for possibly millions of years by the indigenous people that were already living there. So, he really didn’t discover anything, did he?
– We are celebrating a man that ushered in a new world, bringing Spanish rule to a place that was governed by its own rules; and if those people resisted, they were instantly subjected to genocide and slavery. So, he really didn’t usher in a new world, so much as conquer and pillage one that he found already occupied.
