I’m coming Babydaddy!!!

Guess who I am going to see tonight?

Yup, that’s right, the Scissor Sisters!!! I know that they “don’t feel like dancing”, but I certainly do, and I cannot freaking wait. I am going to take my camera again this time, and hope that I can get some really great shots of the band. Especially of the hunky Babydaddy… as I loves me some him! Expect some sort of talk about the show tomorrow. Time to go and get ready to shake my booty to groovy music! YEAH!

Indigo Girls were awesome!

So, I took the advice of everyone, and took my camera with no problem last night. I managed to get quite a few pictures, and I will try to get them up on Flickr sometime this week. I had a great time, and as usual the Girls did not disappoint. They are so flawless, though, I doubt they seriously could. It is always fun to go to a concert that you know is going to be totally worth every penny. I am glad that I wore ear plugs too, because that is the first time I have left a concert, and wasn’t worried my brain was going to ooze out of my ears. Now I can’t wait for the Scissor Sisters concert in two weeks. That should be fun! I will definitely be taking my camera again, and perhaps this time we will get there earlier and get a better spot. Not like there’s a bad spot at the Tabernacle, but I want some more fun pictures, and I know the Sisters will deliver lots of interesting things to shoot!

Now back to my lazy day… gotta clean up and get ready for the drive in tonight!

i do feel like dancing

I mentioned it last week, but the Scissor Sisters new album, Ta-Dah really did come out yesterday. I can’t stop spinning it either, it is great! I managed to snag a copy of the collector’s edition at Best Buy last night (my man hooked me up!), and it contains like 6 extra songs. Rock. I love me some Scissor Sisters! Hey, did you know that their name comes from a lesbian sexual position? Interesting… Man, I love wikipedia, you can learn so much from them. I know one thing is for sure though, I love this band, and I CANNOT WAIT to see them live on October 18th. I’m also pretty sure that I have a crush on Babydaddy. Woof!

As for the conversation from yesterday… I personally don’t care what people do sexually, I was just giving it too much thought, really.

Also, I think that I may have a sinus infection. Yuck. I don’t feel good. Boo!

music makes me smile

Three CDs came out today that I had to pick up: Indigo Girls: Despite Our Differences, Clay Aiken: A Thousand Different Ways, and Scissor Sisters: Ta Dah!. Okay, so technically, I haven’t picked up the Scissor Sisters yet, because they didn’t have it at Target. Interestingly enough, it is also listed on Amazon as coming out on the 26th, even though it says on their website that it is out now. Weird. I’m going to try Best Buy tonight; even though I already have the CD, and it is great. Use your imagination to figure out what that means. All in all, today is a good day for music, despite the fact Fergie dropped an “album” today too.

Sorry about the depressed post yesterday. Sometimes a down day is a down day. Today is kinda one too. I think I will let the great britpop group Blur sum it up for me with the song “Wear Me Down” from Leisure:
Every time I come here
I’m not sure what to say
I know it should be easy
But it never seems that way
You, you make me feel
Like no one ever will
So why, why do you bore me
Until my heart is still
You
You wear me down
My defenses are gone now
And I can’t fight
I can’t say I love you easily
But you wouldn’t want me to
So I’d rather just say nothing
And leave it up to you
Then it’s easy to forget
You’re just as small as me
Then it’s easy to forget
You’re just as foolish as me
You
You wear me down
My defenses are gone now
And I can’t fight

Yeah. I’m going to put my headphones on and enjoy some tunes.

my very own “tunesday”

There are a ton of bloggers out there that do the Tunesday Tuesdays, and I finally have a reason to do my very own! I have been watching Making the Band 3 for the past two seasons (let’s not get into how gay it is that Diddy’s dream (HA!) was to make a girl group that will “take over the world”… um, gay!), and even though I tried to resist, I fell in love with those girls, and I honestly couldn’t wait until their CD came out; which incidentally, was today! I have to say that they definitely delivered, and it is a fun hip hop CD that I really am digging right now. Those of you that know my taste in music, it is rare for me to like a “hip hop” album (save the occasional song here and there), so it is definitely hard for me to endorse any hip hop albums… but not this! It is great! I read somewhere that they were like the hip hop version of the Spice Girls, and I honestly love that; because whether you admit it or not, everyone liked the Spice Girls at least a little bit. HA!

Also, I got the CD for 30 Seconds to Mars, and it kicks ass. The dreamy Jared Leto definitely has a set of pipes on him, and the songs, while definitely for the hard rock fan, are emotional and well written (as well as well performed). I went in liking one song, and came away loving the whole album. Definitely worth checking out if you like groups like Linkin Park and Incubus. You will definitely see it in my car!

As for other music I am currently loving, here is a random list of songs I am digging:
Will Young – All Time Love, Who Am I
Beyonce – Deja Vu
PCD – Buttons (THE song of the summer in my opinion)
Christina – Ain’t No Other Man
KT Tunstall – Suddenly I See
Five For Fighting – I Just Love You
Rascal Flatts – What Hurts the Most
Cheyenne – Hanging On
Jessica Simpson – A Public Affair (I know, I know)
Nelly Furtado – Promiscuous (I am almost over this one though… too much airplay)
Nick Lachey – I Can’t Hate You Anymore

And in case you were wondering (fags), I HATE Sexyback by JT. It sucks. I doesn’t change pitch or tone the entire song. It could have been great, but it isn’t. Boo. Hopefully his next single will make up for it.

What are you guys feeling? I am CRAVING some new music, and luckily, this is the time of year albums start coming out. Let me know what you are listening to!

since U been gone! YEAH YEAH!

I couldn’t let it go by without saying that I am super happy that Kelly Clarkson won TWO Grammy’s last night. You all must admit that Since U Been Gone is one of the catchiest and best pop songs ever; now, she has the Grammy to back that up. Way to go Kelly! Also, anyone that knows me, knows that if Gwen Stefani would have won even one, I would have gone apeshit, so it is a good thing she went home trophy-less. But enough Grammy stuff…

Last night, after Trivia, I went out with my buddy Steve… Yeah, let’s just say that we had an awesome, awesome time… but I forgot to set my alarm last night, and ended up waking up at 11 this morning. When I looked at the clock, I actually said, out loud, “Please tell me that you are fucking with me clock. It can’t be 11.” So yeah. Next time, when going out, we will set alarm before going out. I feel like Dane Cook must have when he woke up 5 hours late for his job… not much you can do when you are 5 hours late; so I guess it could have been worse.

Finally, can someone please explain to me how I have the twisted “fortune” of being #1 in this search? (thanks dave… it was you!) And why are people searching for this? I tell you, if they ever do a search and seizure of google searches that were made; a lot of people out there are in trouble.

My Top 10 Albums of 2005

I hope ya’ll ain’t tired of this shit, cos it just keeps on coming. This is list 3 in the series of end of year, best of lists; and with this list, I will illustrate what I believe to be the best albums that were released this year. In fact, it will be the 10 BEST albums I believe were released this year, cos after all, I own them all! Like I have said before, this is not the end all be all of lists; there is a ton of stuff that was released that I have never even heard of. So, that is where you get to leave a pretty little comment mentioning said left out album; word? Unlike the other lists, I am not going to rank these, so I guess you could kind of consider them tied. The only way an album made this list, was because the entire thing is consistently good. For it to be included, you can be that all, or almost all, of the tracks were thoroughly enjoyable.

Now on with the show! (There are reviews for each album, but if you just want to see the list, there are pretty album covers to accompany each entry on the list.)

My Top 23 Dance Tracks of 2005.

Damn! I must have dyslexia or something, because here I am bringing you the exact inverse number of dance tracks as my top singles of ’05. Deal with it. I own it; I love it..

I have to say that making this list was a lot of fun; mainly because I absolutely love a good dance track, and because I know all too well, that without the proper resources for finding new and GOOD dance music, it can be difficult to locate. There is so much that comes out each month, and only a fraction of it is good. I can bet that out of every 15 songs I hear, only one is worth re-listening to. All of these songs have passed the test, and are all songs that I put the duanemoody.com stamp of approval on. If I were the DJ, you would be sure to hear these beating on your eardrums; and trust me, you would probably want to dance your ass off.

Many of these songs are super girly, and totally fun; because that is what I like. I like dance tracks that make you want to dance, and all of these definitely make me want to put on my dancing shoes. Some of them make me want to pull out a wig and… well, let’s not go there. Either way, I hope you enjoy my list, and if you haven’t heard any of these, try doing a search on iTunes; or other unmentionable “illegal” downloading software (I totally didn’t say that). If that doesn’t help, because many of these mixes are hard to find, and if you are super duper nice to me, and show me lots of love, I may be willing to help you hear some of these gems. Just maybe. Anyway, here’s the list; I hope you like these songs, I know I do:

My Top 32 singles of 2005.

Yes, it’s finally here; as promised, I am bringing you the first installment of the best of 2005, with my top 32 singles of 2005. No, this isn’t what you are thinking; it is not actually a take on that Ani Difranco song, 32 Flavors. It also is not a ploy to get an endorsement from Baskin Robbins (although, now that I think about it, why not, right?). I have just narrowed down my top singles of this year, and the list happened to come to 32. Aren’t coincidences fun? (At least one person on this list could take note that coincidences are not necessarily ironic, but can still be fun, ahem, I am not naming names, Mrs. Ryan Reynolds.)

Now, I do want to say one thing before you get to see the list; let me say that I no way think that these all qualify as the BEST songs of 2005 for anyone but me; after all, it’s my list, right? These are just 32 songs that happened to be memorable to me, songs that I liked for at least some part of 2005, and/or are songs that I feel represent 2005 for me. (I totally added a little piece of commentary to each one to kind of explain why they are where they are; but it ended up making this a more than 3 page post… and I figured people wouldn’t read it, so I took it out. If anyone wants to see that, just let me know in the comments and I will post a follow up post with the explanations included within the list). With that being said, if you don’t like them, or if you think something should have been at #16 as opposed to what I put there, then feel free to comment. Perhaps, we will all learn more about each other’s music tastes that way. And, worst comes to worst, I may even get some ideas for singles I can jam to for 2006 out of the deal! With that being said, here is my list of the top singles for 2005: (expect the other lists over the next couple of days!)

if music is a victim then so am I…

You know, there are very few things in life I absolutely love (James, beer, breathing, and so on), but one thing is for sure, music is more than a loving relationship for me; it is a passion. Often times people ask those silly questions like, “would you rather cut off your arm or your leg” or “would you rather be blind or deaf”; and honestly, at least for the last one, the answer is an astounding, “I don’t know”. And that answer, is all based on my insatiable hunger for music.

The reason that I was thinking about this, is partly because of the wave of responses Madonna’s new record is getting from gay bloggers everywhere. I am not going to talk about that AT ALL, so if you want to read about what I think of Madonna’s record, I wrote an entry. Check it out here. The other thing that got me thinking about this, is actually a good thing; I was recently asked to write for a kickass website that reviews movies, music, concerts, and other cool shit like that. I am extremely honored that he even returned my email, let alone invited me to write for the site; but I must say that I go forward with some trepidation. While I do review movies and music for my own site (ahem, you can check that out in the links in the right column), this is the first time I will write something for someone else’s site, and frankly, I am a little nervous; and probably not for the reasons that you may be thinking right now.
