it seems like, in this day and age, that when something like the Downing Street Memo comes out, people would be like, “What the hell is that??? I want to know more!!”. Why, you ask? What is the Downing Street Memo? Well, it is a document contain meeting minutes from the July 23, 2002 meeting with Tony Blair. Why is that important? Well, it pretty much spells out that the Bush administration lied about “invasion as a last resort”, and actually detailed plans to convince the people and congress that an invasion of Iraq was necessary. It hints at the fact that the Bush administration manipulated evidence and intelligence on Iraq (i..e., blatantly “hyped” the activity in Iraq and of Saddam Hussein, in order to convince officials that action was necessary), and expresses Blair’s concerns about what the invasion of Iraq could mean. It shows a president hell bent on war and invasion, and doesn’t seem to highlight any sense of the repercussions.
Now, I am not an expert in public or foreign policy, nor do I claim to be a political strategist, but don’t you think that this is something that should have been public knowledge? Don’t you think that the people that are over there DIEING in Iraq deserve to know why they are really there? I have noticed that this memo is slowly gaining attention, thanks to bloggers and websites like this one, but it needs to be in the forefront. Bush must answer for what he has done. Maybe then, the idiots that voted for him will feel a sense of remorse, and realize that keeping “moral values” and suppressing gay rights, isn’t as important as the truth. The truth is, wait for it… BUSH LIED AGAIN, FUCK!! And now, we all have to live with that. Dammit. And what have I been saying all along? Well, yeah, I said that he lied back before the election too… so I guess I am sticking by that. Hopefully, some good can come from this; but I honestly can’t see what that would be.
Let me know how you feel about this memo. Do you think that it is something of grave importance, or do you think that the media is handling it the way it needs to be handled?
