Turns out that the repairs to my car ended up being way more than $450. More like $2000. But? and here is where you come in? I have a choice to make. See, the remaining $1500 or so has not been spent, and I need some perspective and help to make this next decision:
Should I cut my losses, trade the car in like it is, and get a new one? Or, should I just pay the money to get it fixed, after getting a second or third opinion, of course?
So, here?s some background. The car is 6 years old, and is fully paid for. It runs fine, well, it did, other than this situation. The water pump busted, which caused the head gasket to blow slightly. There are also some old belts that need to be replaced, so that is part of the $1500 repair. The repair would replace the head gasket, so essentially, in theory, it should run fine after it is fixed. But, this sort of problem happened to my last car (although, way more severe with the old car), and it never was right after this? it really was a crappy car after this, and started to have problem after problem (but that is the way old cars are). So, what should I do? Post your replies, so that we can make this decision, cause I am honestly on the fence with this one folks!
