I heart Blogabees

You know, something has really kept me thinking longer than I anticipated; last week, when my site got all crazy, and went down for a couple of days, I wondered what people thought when they came to my site and found nothing. A couple of people emailed me, and wanted to know what was going on, but I wonder if the casual browsers of duanemoody.com bothered to ever come back?

Well, being that I am who I am (a borderline neurotic/perfectionist gay man), that sent me into a borderline “blogsestential” crisis, where I started to question why I write for this blog, to wonder who reads it, to freak out over whether people like it, to ponder what people want to read, etc. Now, I know that there are my loyals out there, and I do love you all, seriously, don’t ever forget that; (in fact, I have met some of you IRL recently, and it is has been awesome… I want to do MUCH more of that) but I think these thoughts came up for a different, yet particular reason. I believe that I sit where most people do in the blogging world; yeah we do it for fun, yeah we do it for ourselves, but overall, truth be told, we like being liked.

See, I write this blog because I really like it, and it does bring me joy to write about things and share things that are interesting to me; but I also like to know that people read it, and care what I have to say. I think that we are all looking for that, and our respective blogs serve as that outlet. It is our space on the internets were we live; and it is always nice when people stop by your house and tell you how nice it is, how nicely it is decorated, if they stop by and bring dinner, or even, the times when they may say your place is a socialist or something, the two of you can at least get in an argument about it and learn something about each other (but all in good fun, right?). I guess what I am trying to get at, is, I really want to know what people think of my blog. I want to know what you think of what I have to say. I am not looking for you to fluff my ego (I have mirrors for that! Just kidding… I am not THAT superficial, or am I?), I am simply trying to take more steps towards being a considerate writer; I want to know what you really think! It doesn’t mean that I am going to change drastically, or really even at all, but it would give me great insight into what people like/think/expect/hate/etc. I think that would help put some of this “blogsestential” crisis on the back burner. (and no, this doesn’t mean that I have run out of things to write about… in fact, quite the opposite; so be afraid!)

There is no right or wrong answer. 42 is even appropriate, given the proper context. I also want you all to know that I appreciate that you listen to me; even when I feel like I may not have anything important to say. Be sure to tell me if there is something that I haven’t said that you would like me to, as well, because hey, that may be the next topic I ponder, or rip to shreds. Hey, I am one unpredictable bitch sometimes! Happy Monday bloggers…
