In Memory Of Amanda Dare Clifton

1982-1998

Some say that her smile could brighten the darkest day.
Amanda was more than a friend, she was someone I was blessed to know.

Amanda was the same age as my sister, just turned 16. She lived next
door to us, for as long as I could remember. But that all changed on
May 8, 1998. Being taken home from school by a friend, proved to be a
fatal mistake. Wreckless driving by a young boy sent my sister to the
hospital, and took innocent Amanda's life. I am so thankful to have my
sister here with me alive and well today, after all that she went through
Amanda will be forever missed and always remembered as a sweet, shining
star that will burn brightly in my heart from now and for always.

I have written the following poem in Amanda's memory.
I remain forever changed....

Sometimes you may think
Things will last always
And then something happens
That saddens your days
There was one Friday night
This very thing engaged
When my telephone rang
And my life forever changed
It was a dear friend
Who called me to see
If i'd heard the news
Of what had happened around three
Suddenly it fell quiet
As she quickly filled me in
Of just who was involved
Begining, middle, then end
Your sister has been hurt
Badly so I am afraid
And innocent Amanda
Wasn't able to be saved
My eyes swelled with tears
As I realized what took place
An unnecessary accident
which devistated in this case
I prayed hard for my sister
And hoped she would be fine
But also for Amanda's parents
I prayed they would be in time
My sister was hurt badly
But had a miraculous recovery
It brought us closer togther
And lead to a startling discovery
Take nothing for granted
In four seconds it can be gone
Cherish those you love
And thank the Lord when they get home
Amanda will always be missed and loved
As she looks down on us from up above
